Korean Music Awards (KMA) 2022 yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh peminat Kpop telah pemenangnya dalam kalangan karyawan muzik serta penggiat seni. pada 1 Mac 2022 semalam.
KMA menilai kualiti album dan lagu berbanding populariti artis berkenaan, maka pencapaian muzik menjadi kunci kepada kemenangan mereka. Persis dianggap Grammy Korea, KMA dilihat cuba menyatukan gap di antara muzik-muzik ‘mainstream’ dan bukan ‘mainstream’ (muzik-muzik indie).
Sebelum ini, IU mengungguli pencalonan terbanyak dalam kalangan artis Kpop iaitu dengan enam pencalonan, diikuti oleh Aespa dan AKMU masing-masing dengan empat pencalonan, seterusnya BTS dengan tiga pencalonan. BTS dengan album BE tidak tercalon untuk kategori Album of The Year kali ini dan kategori utama ini merupakan satu-satunya yang belum dimenangi oleh BTS untuk anugerah berprestij tersebut.
Menurut keputusan yang diumumkan, Aespa berjaya menggondol kemenangan terbanyak dengan tiga trofi iaitu Song of the Year, Rookie of the Year, dan Best K-Pop Song menerusi lagu ‘Next Level’ manakala BTS pula mengekalkan kemenangan untuk ‘Artist of The Year’ tiga tahun secara berturut-turut, menjadi kumpulan kpop pertama yang berjaya berbuat demikian.
